(Gary being welcomed by the Zildjian company at the entrance to the factory!)
Having visited the Zildjian factory and the Boston area a few years ago I was very keen for a
return visit. This came about in April this year when I was invited to attend the factory again
with my student and travel buddy Mark Slaymaker.
(Gary and Slay arrive at the Zildjian factory!)
Our tour began with learning how cymbals are made which can be experienced on the virtual tour of www.zildjian.com
The second half was choosing cymbals that I was given to take home to use in my music and
teaching (see photos). Choices were Zildjian prototype K and A rides, oriental trash splash,
14" prototype K hi hats which I had rivited (bottom cymbal only).
(Gary choosing Zildjian prototypes in the drummers lounge!)
After which we caught up with friends old and new around the factory. Then after a worldwind
tour it was sadly time to say goodbye.... Until the next visit!
(Gary and Artist relations manager Sarah in the Zildjian's hall of fame!)

Zildjian Artist Session
At the end of March this year I have the pleasure and privilege of attending the London Zildjian
Artist Session. It was great to mix with the world's top professional drummers whilst trying out
all the new cymbals before they arrived in the stores for the general public to buy.
I have attached a link to the Zildjian web site so you can read the full review and see if you can
spot me in the photo?!
Thank you for all the questions and comments about my "Fun when you drum!" site, stay in touch!

For those of you who have yet to experience it, my band's latest musical offering is out
now... called "Call me on the Phone Sometime". The album is in fact an amalgamation
of several line-ups of the Mojo Bones band (I've been in the band for the last three years).
I played on at least half a dozen of the tracks and it features Blues, Latin and laid-back
tunes to boot! We are based at the home of F1 motor racing champions RENAULT
and have even played for one of their staff parties!
The CD is available from the band's web site
www.mojobones.co.uk, so have a listen to the taster sessions that are on the
site and then why not go the whole hog and purchase the album?! In January we were
also booked into Woodworm Studios www.woodwormmusic.com
to record our second album with the current line up. This will be available from the
Mojo Bones site, so join the mailing list today and we can keep you updated?
Woodworm Studios has played host to Fairport Convention, Jethro Tull, Robert Plant,
Martin Allcock etc etc and many more, so check out the link.
Well, that's it for this update, but do stay in touch will all your questions and ideas
for the site; I couldn't do it without you!
Best as always
